I recently told you of all my work experience placements for University. Well I’ve been editing most of my work and here is the completed edited film for Make a Difference Day that I filmed on the 28th of October 2011. It was an enjoyable experience and I hope you enjoy the film.
Hey ho all, I’ve been incredibly busy at University. I’m doing work experience for Rochdale & District Mind. I have filmed three events for them so far and I will be getting a little amount of money as payment. The events are as follows: Heritage Walk, AGM and the Black History Month. From one of the events I was able to network and I found another work experience that I will be doing this friday at CVS. They are holding a make a difference day event at the Ronald Gorton Centre. I will be helping them out filming their event for them.
Plus I took on a two day work experience with the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair at Manchester. I have to get up to 80 hours of work experience for my work based learning unit at University, I believe I may have gone over the 80 hours already. Go me! Well at this last event (Craft Fair) there was another networking opportunity and I got some excellent contacts. I have got a contact from a media production company that takes on documentaries for television and the internet. Now I can work on my proposal to pitch to them and might get somewhere with it as they excel in human interest stories especially like mine.
I believe fate has intervened. This is so my niche and I’ll be able to get work within the media industry because of it.
For a couple of months now I have been helping a local band called Contra to film their rehearsals. I am now a Pro Am Film maker. I made a short music video for the lead singer Stephen Griffin and made a video promo for the band introducing them. My aim now is to film as much as possible to make a professional music video for their website. I did start filming them in the back end of last year, but it has made me more confident to be a professional amateur film maker/photographer. I will be making up my own business card soon. The band includes: Dave Cooper, Richard Dixon, Toddy Rigg and Tej Chauhan. You can visit their page on facebook.

Hello everyone
Last week I graduated from the Foundation Degree in Media Production at Bolton University. It was an unusual experience and so english. Basically all I had to do was walk on stage, shake a hand, have a photo taken and walk of stage. I felt ripped off. I thought your supposed to get a rolled up certificate to have the photo with and a tassle turner. I turned my own tassle because no one else did. I was pretty bored as Amanda and I was more or less first and there was a lot of people to get through. I nearly fell asleep and my mortar board fell off a couple of times. I think I may have annoyed Amanda with my boredom. Afterwards my family took photos of me, had two bucks fizz at the reception and then we all went for a meal at Frankie and Bennies at the Lowry Centre. It was fab, I had a three course meal and went home to sleep it off.
On the day I came back from America, I had a few more surprises. I got a letter from the University saying that I won a student award. I’d done it again as I’d won a governors award the year before. There’s more. I received a phone call from my employment advisor about a job that was just up my street. Basically the job entailed being a public speaker for people with a disability. To inspire and create more awareness about different disabilities. It is just like what I did at the conference. Wow, and I didnt do anything for that one to fall in my lap like that. I was thinking of moving as well as I have had some problems with my recent abode, but I may have to iron them out at a later date. Oh yes just one more thing, a lady called Jane Gregory has helped me and my mother to get an article in this novembers issue of Essentials Magazine. We will get a make over and a photo shoot at the end of August. The story behind that is my Canadian friend mentioned me to her and I contacted her. The rest is history.
I keep forgetting other stuff as well, I applied to a university email about a work placement at Media City with BBC Children’s. So I will be doing that at the end of August too. Gawd there is so much to do and think about no wonder my head is all over the place. Peace out, oh I think I should do that as well. lol.
I have been to Orlando, Florida for the International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association where I was asked to speak. I had the most amazing time. I met a lot of friendly people. I met Brandy Hellard and Casey Morton who I have been talking to online for 2 years now. It was lovely to meet them in person. I managed to fly there and back on my own. I’m so proud of myself. Now I know I can do anything. Whilst I was there I helped out with a workshop, visit down town disney and enjoy myself. My speech went well. I have posted it on Facebook and youtube. I was able to give handouts about my life and difficulties to inspire the parents. On the disco night I had a blast. I had a few cocktails and totally enjoyed myself. I danced with some of the kids. It was so cool. When swimming I caught the sun and burnt my back. To all the people who were there, thank you so much for a wonderful time and I intend to come to the next conference too.
Hello all, I’m done at University for summer now. I can now devote some time to myself. I also finished the screenwriting course that I have been doing at Primary Creations in Manchester. Over the Holidays I will be speaking at the IMDSA conference in July which I’m looking forward to. Just waiting for my results now. Hopefully when I’m back from the conference I can fill my time doing work experience somewhere. I get too bored on these long holidays.
Just a couple more weeks before I go to the IMDSA conference. I would like to visit downtown disney whilst am there. Please would you donate to help me do so? Thank you
I am really happy to be undertaking FD Media Production to Media Degree at Bolton University.
